Kindergarten-We have completed our portraits in traditional Greek attire. Mrs. Anderson from Plato Trinity was kind enough to bring her Greek head dress and necklace in for students to see. Thank you, Mrs. Anderson! Students are adding color and practicing their cutting and pasting skills to attach their portrait to a new background paper.
First- Amphora vases are coming along beautifully! Tampa students worked on painting their vase black this week. Trinity students began carving Greek patterns into their vase using a scratching tool. The scratching tool scrapes off the black paint to reveal the colored oil pastel underneath. Second- Students are completing their symmetrical Greek Ionic columns. We created the capital (the top part) of the column last week. This week students are receiving small group instruction to learn how to make the 3 dimensional drum (long fluted center part of the column). Third- Greek landscapes are beginning to come to life. Third graders worked on creating Doric, Ionic, or Corinthian columns last week. This week we drew a Greek temple together and began to collage a background for our landscape from torn paper. Fourth- Greek architecture is coming into perspective with fourth grade students. We drew various 3 dimensional buildings together. Students added personal details to their buildings, sea, and sky. They are completing their artwork with their medium of choice, marker or colored pencil. Its been wonderful seeing these artworks begin to come together! I cannot wait for Plato Trinity students to enjoy completing them in our NEW art room! More details on our new building and art room to come... Mrs. Kurasz
