I'm very excited to announce that Helena, Selena, and Christian all won awards in the 2020 FGUA Water Poster Contest!
Just before spring break, students created designs for the annual water poster contest. The challenge was to create a design that promotes awareness toward the water system and water conservation while following the theme, Drippy's Big Adventure. Helena won 1st place for her design against dozens of other Pasco County students in her grade level. Selena and Christian took 2nd and 3rd place representing Plato for their grade level. I am so proud of all our student artists but especially these three for representing the excellence we strive for here at Plato Academy. Congratulations students! Mrs. Kurasz

Kindergarten through third graders created chilly polar bears and hot cocoa mugs in honor of the cold weather we've been having. Kindergarten and First graders used wavy, straight, zig zag, and dotted lines to create their polar bear drawing. Second and third grade focused on line variety and created a sweater pattern using overlapping lines.
Stay warm, Plato families! Mrs. Kurasz Before thanksgiving break we created some food and turley themed artworks!
Kindergarten students created a color wheel turkey collage. First graders created a delicious meal collage. All pieces of their artwork were hand drawn, cut, and pasted together. A faux painting (using markers and water) of a plate and silverware completed their work. Second and third grade also did faux painting with markers. They created delectable pie themed artworks inspired by artist, Wayne Thiebaud, who turned 100 years old this November! Fourth grade learned about culture and how all cultures enjoy different foods for the holidays. They created a meal collage from paper to represent their own culture. Fifth graders followed a series of self led lessons to complete their own cornucopia collage. I hope everyone had a restful break! I am so thankful for my students' enthusiasm and creativity this holiday season. The art we create together makes Plato a better place to be every day. Mrs. Kurasz |
