Welcome back to Art Plato Academy Trinity Family!
And an even BIGGER welcome to our new to Plato families! This week, students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will be focusing on learning the expectations in art. We will be reading the story, Together We Can and creating a collaborative mural. This story teaches us about the importance of our diversity as a community and how it can help us achieve and grow. I cannot wait to see your student in the art room and begin creating with them!

Plato artists learned about the connection between art and design in our final project. Students were given the task of interior designing their own 3D space. Designs ranged from dream bedrooms, gaming rooms, to nurseries. I loved seeing their designs come to life and the problem solving that took place in realizing their vision. I see a bright future for each of our Plato students with their creativity being an enormous benefit to their future goals.
-Mrs. Kurasz Due to FSA testing, some classes have had additional art time! Classes enjoyed an art game day to wind down from testing. Arts themed games and videos were provided to students to choose from.
Thank you, PTO for donating rocks to paint for Earth Day!
Our rock garden came out beautifully. You can see it in front of the school by the car loop. -Mrs. Kurasz Earth Day 2021 is this Thursday, April 22nd!
The PTO donated rocks for Plato artists to paint in celebration of Earth Day. These rocks will be displayed outside of the school. Each grade level created their design in a different monochromatic color scheme. Together the rocks will create a rainbow of color! Keep an eye out for this new art installation! -Mrs. Kurasz The first annual Yearbook Cover Contest has come to a close!

Students had the opportunity to earn unique hedgehogz in a variety of costumes. To celebrate the fundraiser and key chain collecting craze, students drew their own hedgehog with a unique costume. They were able to create one-of-a-kind designs they could keep! -Mrs. Kurasz I am so happy to be welcoming students back into the art room for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year!
To prevent the spread of Covid-19, families have been asked to provide individual supplies to their students. If you need this list again, please dojo message or email me. Students have been creating Valentine inspired artworks. Kindergarten and 1st grade students are learning about artist Peter Max. They are emulating his eclectic, colorful style in their own Valentine inspired paintings. We learned about proper painting procedures. Second graders are using complementary color pairs in their heart themed artworks. Complementary colors are colors that are across each other on the color wheel, such as, green and red or orange and blue. Third grade students are making unique owl drawings using their observational skills. We used references to create one of a kind, stylized owl paintings. Fourth graders are making color wheels int he shape of a heart jewel. The color wheels have the three main color groups: primary, secondary, and tertiary. Fifth grade students are drawing 3 dimensional conversation hearts on an analogous color scheme background. Analogous colors are three or four colors next to each other on the color wheel, like, yellow, green and blue or red, orange, and yellow. I continue to be impressed with the creativity and enthusiasm our Plato artists exhibit daily! Mrs. Kurasz I'm very excited to announce that Helena, Selena, and Christian all won awards in the 2020 FGUA Water Poster Contest!
Just before spring break, students created designs for the annual water poster contest. The challenge was to create a design that promotes awareness toward the water system and water conservation while following the theme, Drippy's Big Adventure. Helena won 1st place for her design against dozens of other Pasco County students in her grade level. Selena and Christian took 2nd and 3rd place representing Plato for their grade level. I am so proud of all our student artists but especially these three for representing the excellence we strive for here at Plato Academy. Congratulations students! Mrs. Kurasz Kindergarten through third graders created chilly polar bears and hot cocoa mugs in honor of the cold weather we've been having. Kindergarten and First graders used wavy, straight, zig zag, and dotted lines to create their polar bear drawing. Second and third grade focused on line variety and created a sweater pattern using overlapping lines.
Stay warm, Plato families! Mrs. Kurasz |
